I Do….Now What? (as told by The Brandery’s Program Manager Jess Mabis)

When I got married last year, I spent months leading up to that day finding and altering my dream dress. Finding that perfect dress is one of the most sentimental aspects of the entire wedding- surrounded by the women you love playing dress up….It’s a day so many women dream of. I boarded a plane for Hawaii the day after my wedding leaving my parents to pack up and store all the leftover party supplies and attire. While I was hiking through Volcanoes National Park, my mom zipped my dress back in its bag and put it in her basement. I can honestly say the status/whereabouts of my dress didn’t cross my mind until months later when we interviewed Unbox The Dress.

While listening to CEO Grace Rojek pitch, I was reminded of a problem I forgot I had: I’m one of the 63 million American women storing a wedding dress. Unbox the Dress takes stored wedding dresses and upcycles them into timeless heirlooms. With such a simple business model yet every order being one-of-a kind, we knew Unbox the Dress would need an agency that specialized in visual asset creation to showcase the intricate gown transformations- Borne Content was the obvious match.

Here Comes the Agency (as told by Borne Content COO Angie Fischer)

We have always found value in working with The Brandery, and felt it was especially important in the current 2020 climate to continue this support. With so much uncertainty and unpredictability in the world we saw a great opportunity to lend our services to growing businesses and help the community. We were also inspired by the passion of The Brandery team to not let something like a global pandemic stop progress, but instead to take the program completely virtual and still make it work.

From the moment we met at the “Speed Dating” event we felt an immediate connection to Grace and the value proposition she has brought to life with Unbox the Dress. When you’re talking about an iconic piece of wardrobe such as a wedding dress, that right there just lends itself to amazing emotional storytelling opportunities. Unbox the Dress was doing so many things right from a branding standpoint that we felt our talents would be best used to optimize and streamline some of the core branding elements such as the logo and color palette, and then to turn the bulk of our attention towards creating a powerful piece of video that could communicate the emotion behind the brand vs. just focusing on the functionality of how the service works. We went all out and did a full-scale live shoot on location to show how one wedding dress can be transformed into multiple items serving multiple generations and occasions. And did I mention we were in the middle of a global pandemic? We took all the proper safety precautions to ensure we kept everyone safe and healthy and ended up with wonderful video content we hope will really help tell the brand’s story.

A Match Made in Heaven (as told by Unbox the Dress CEO Grace Rojek)

Working with Borne Content has been a highlight of our Brandery program! From the moment we met with Angie and Rainn from the leadership team, I felt they understood our vision for the brand. From their updates to our visual identity, to our long-form showcase video, we’ll be integrating Borne’s work into our marketing plan for a long time to come. My co-founder and I are extremely passionate about our brand voice and bring lots of specific ideas and feedback to the table. The Borne team listened and allowed us to stay close to the project while elevating our ideas. I would highly recommend reaching out to their team for any video content needs!
